Parrots when they are very young are referred to as parrotlets. They are small creature with a small size measuring around five to six inches. The weight of an average bodied parrotlet is around 28 grams. Thes birds are kept in the homes by many people. Humans have seen the importance of rearing parrotlets in their homes. Many people like them because of their friendly nature and also the fact that one can train the parrot on various issues. Parrots are very sensitive birds that notice everything going on in the compound. Those who have never had a chance to interact with them ask themselves various questions about the parrotlets.
A compound with a parrot looks extra beautiful. The colors of a parrot are different depending on the species. The difference in color is brought about by the difference in the species. Some of the species of the parrots are expensive and rare to find. The Pacific parrot is the most available species of the parrotlets. There is a variety of colors for the different species of the parrots. Species that are yellow in color are the ones that are very hard to find.
Parrotlets have a big appetite which fuels it’s antique and the playful nature. Parrots like cracking nuts for fun and also exercising their beaks which is for that purpose. They like breaking the nuts and opening them to eat what is inside. They should be fed with a constant supply of natural supplements to aid them with their proper growth. Mature parrots feed less as they require little amount of energy as compared to the young parrotlets which require quite some energy for growth. Food with very high sugar content is not a good diet for the parrotlets and therefore should be avoided. Parrotlets should be fed with food that contains less amount of sugar content.
Every pet bird needs the attention of their owner. Provided the parrotlets are properly fed they don’t require too much attention. Io minutes attention is enough for the fully grown birds. Parrotlets will feel comfortable in a cage with toys and other playful material provided there is enough space for play. Parrotlets don’t need company from other birds as they don’t bond well. They can only feel comfortable in the company of their owners and other parrots. Their houses should be made separate to that of other pets.
Parrotlets are aggressive to anything that seems to interfere with their personal space. Parrots are fearless and can be harmful to other pets if not well separated from each other. Little kids should be kept far from them to avoid disturbing them and getting injured. Parrotlets which have been fed by use of hand are very much gentle to everyone including the children.
